What is a National Insurance Number?Your National Insurance Number is unique to you and you will keep that number all of your life.HM Revenue &amp; Customs use it to record and credit National Insurance contributions to your National Insurance account. You will need these National Insurance contributions and credits when you come to claim benefit, whether it is for a short while, like Incapacity Benefit or long term, such as Basic State Pension.Your National Insurance Number is personal to you.It is your account number allocated to you for you to use in all your dealings with HM Revenue &amp; Customs, or the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).If you do not already have a National Insurance number you must apply for one as soon as you start work or you or your partner claims benefit.It is very important for you to obtain a National Insurance Number; we at Extraman need to ensure that you have applied for one, and should you fail to obtain an NI number Extraman will not be in a position to offer you further assignments.As a result, we require all temporary workers who do not have an NI Number to show us proof they they have begun the process within 4 weeks of their first assignment, or, if you are already working, before the end of December 2006.However, it is very straightforward to start the application process!How to applyTo apply for a NI number you will need to telephone the Jobcentreplus NI number allocation service helpline on 0845 600 0643.They will make sure you need a number and arrange for you to undertake an evidence of identity interview.You will be sent a letter confirming your appointment, and you should show us proof of this as soon as possible.Once your interview has succesully taken place, you will be allocated an NI Number - this could take up to 6 weeks to arrive.Once you have received your NI Number, you should let us have this as soon as possible.Information about the interview&nbsp;&lsquo;Evidence of identity' interview -&nbsp;The interview will usually be one-to-one (unless, for example, you need an interpreter). The interviewer will ask you questions about your background and circumstances. The interviewer may also ask you to fill in an application form.&nbsp;If you don't have any official documents -If you haven't got any official documents you still have to go to the interview. You might be able to prove your identity with the information you give at the interview.The National Insurance number card -A plastic National Insurance number card is issued automatically when you first apply for a number or if you change your name on marriage.It is meant to be a reminder of your number and nothing else. It does not provide proof of your identity and should not be used as such.If you live in the United Kingdom but have no permanent address you will be able to collect your card from the Social Security office about 8 weeks after your application is made.Take good care of your card. You will only be sent one replacement if you lose it.

What is CSCS?The CSCS qualification is an easy and inexpensive way to get access to a wide range of construction jobs in the UK.CSCS is the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and is a Health and Safety Test that is designed to raise standards across the construction industry and increase awareness of Health and Safety issues when working on site.Why should I take the test? The CSCS card proves that you have a sound understanding of Health and Safety issues on site and through this test you have proven that you are aware of the risks.On the larger construction sites in London, the CSCS card is now mandatory.A large number of Extraman clients are requesting that the temporary workers we supply have cards.With Extraman, any labourer who has passed the CSCS test and is working on a CSCS site is paid at a higher rate than a non CSCS labourer.How do I apply?If you are interested in sitting the CSCS test, contact the Extraman consultants who will then book the test, on your behalf, with the CITB. We can also supply the book which you will need to read through before taking the test.If you continue to work with Extraman for 4 weeks after you have passed this test, we will refund you the test fee.Alternatively you can book this through&nbsp;<a class="redlinks" href="http://www.citb.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">www.citb.org.uk</a>How do I take the test?You are supplied with a book from which to study. In this book you will find questions presented in multiple choice format. When you sit the test, the test questions are delivered on a computer screen, in the same format that you find in the book.Most questions will give four answers, only one of which is correct. Some questions will ask you to select more than one option to properly answer the question.You only need to have a basic understanding of computers, all you will need to do is click the relevant boxes using a mouse. Before the test begins you will be given time to practise to get used to the way the test will work.How difficult is the test? We do have a minimum hour charge to ensure that all workers receive a fair day's pay. This also allows our workers to be compensated should there be no requirement for them after they have been booked for work. If a job is cancelled the day before, there will be no charge, if the job is cancelled 2 hours prior to the start of a job the minimum charge will stand.

What happens if I make a late cancellation on a booking?

If a worker has not shown up for a shift due to either illness or absence, we will endeavour to find a replacement as soon as possible. A consultant is avaliable from 6.00 am-7.00 pm Monday-Friday, and on call and contactable via email over the weekend and will be in constant contact with the client updating them with the progress of the replacement worker. You will not be charged for a minimum for the replacement candidate and will only pay them from the time they arrive.

What happens if a temporary worker does not show up to work?

If a client is unhappy with a worker, they need to contact a consultant immediately. We will then endeavour to find a replacement as soon as possible. In the unlikely event that someone we supply is deemed unsuitable and sent home from site within four hours of starting work, there will be no charge.

What happens if I am not happy with a workers performance?

Yes, we offer a 4 hour rate, as well as the full daily rate.

Can I book a crew for Events/Exhibitions or Labouring work, for less than 8 hours?

No problem, simply inform one of our consultants that the booking may go over time; overtime rates, though, will apply in this instance. We are not in the practice of booking our workers for more than one job a day. This ensures that the crew can stay if required.

What if I book a 4 hour call for a crew for Events/Exhibitions but suspect it may go over?

Yes, we can take orders late at night or from 6.00 am in the morning. We will endeavour to fill your order as quickly as possible although this always depends on how many candidates we have available on that day. When taking late orders, we will immediately confirm whether we can fulfil them and keep you informed as to our progress.

Can I book a crew of warehouse or labouring workers at the last minute?

Yes, if the location of work is outside&nbsp;the London Postal Districts&nbsp;there will usually be a travel charge added, in order to&nbsp;compensate staff for travel time and cost.&nbsp;This charge is paid directly to the worker. All charges will be notified to our customers before the job is confirmed.

Do you charge travel fares for work outside of Central London?

Yes, you can offer a temporary worker permanent employment, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Business. Many of our staff transfer to our clients - usually over 100 per annum.

Do you supply Crew Chiefs for Events and Exhibitions work?

Yes, all of our crew wear and Extraman uniform. They are equipped with Steel capped boots, Hi Visibility jacket and Hard Hats. Please be aware that all our equipment is Extraman branded.

Do your crew for Events/ Exhibition or Labouring work wear a uniform and do they have PPE?

We can supply our workers with uniforms depending on what is required in the warehouse environment. We usually provide steel capped boots to all our workers and hi-vis vests, gloves and hard hats are also stocked by Extraman.

Do your workers for warehousing work wear a uniform?

All of our candidates have a face-to-face interview with a consultant, where their English levels are assessed. We only register candidates who have a good command of English.
