What order pickers and packers do on your floor

Order pickers select stock against a pick list or handheld scanner, then move it to the pack bench. Packers check, wrap and label orders for dispatch, keeping accuracy and pack quality high through the shift.

Extraman supplies both roles as a pair or singly. A busy ecommerce line gets pickers who hold rate under pressure, and a retail return operation gets packers used to careful handling.

What is the difference between a picker and a packer?

A picker selects and gathers stock against an order, usually with a handheld scanner, and moves it to the bench. A packer then checks, wraps, labels and prepares each order for dispatch. Extraman supplies either role, or both together, matched to your throughput and accuracy standards.

Why accuracy briefing protects your dispatch numbers

Mis-picks cost twice: the wrong order ships, then a return and a replacement follow. Extraman briefs pickers on your scanner flow and accuracy targets before the shift, so error rates stay low from hour one.

In-house PAYE keeps every picker and packer accountable to Extraman. There's no umbrella layer, so pay is clear and the person on your bench is directly managed by us.

How do you keep pick accuracy high with temp staff?

Extraman briefs each picker on your scanner system, pick paths and accuracy targets before they start, and supplies staff with prior pick-and-pack experience where the role needs it. That front-loaded briefing keeps error rates low, so mis-picks and the returns they trigger stay down across the shift.

FAQs

How fast can you supply pickers and packers in London?

Extraman confirms availability the same day for most London bookings. We hold local pools of vetted pick-and-pack staff across the city's fulfilment belts, so short-notice and next-morning shifts are standard. Give us the headcount and shift times and we respond immediately with cover.

Are your pickers experienced with handheld scanners?

Yes. Extraman supplies pickers with prior scanner and pick-list experience, and we brief each one on your specific system before the shift. That keeps ramp-up short and pick accuracy high. Tell us your scanner type when you book and we match staff already familiar with that flow.

Can you cover peak ecommerce volumes?

Yes, and peak is our busiest window. Ecommerce pick-and-pack volumes climb from October, so we recommend booking recurring shifts early. Extraman ramps headcount for the Christmas build-up and holds a reserve pool for the volume spikes that hit fulfilment sites in November and December.

Do you supply packers as well as pickers?

Yes. Extraman supplies packers, pack-bench staff and pickers, together or separately. Packers check, wrap, label and prepare orders for dispatch to your quality standard. Tell us the split you need when you book and we supply the right mix for your throughput and accuracy targets.
